n
conjunction with best-seller THE MOZART EFFECT®
(Avon Books) by leading author, lecturer, and musician
Don Campbell, Spring Hill Music releases the first
three in a series of exclusive compilations from the
author. Comprised of top-quality performances of some
of MozartÍs most powerful and affecting compositions,
Volume I, Strengthen The Mind: Music for Intelligence
and Learning, Volume II, Heal The Body: Music for
Rest & Relaxation, and Volume III, Unlock the Creative
Spirit: Music for Creativity & Imagination, put into
practice CampbellÍs pioneering work over the past
twenty years as described in this major hardcover.
"The
Mozart Effect®" signifies the extraordinary
transformational powers of music and sound - not only
of Mozart but of everything from a hot samba to a
Bach fugue to gospel to our own voices. And The Mozart
Effect¬ is well documented: music has a dramatic effect
on our health, emotional well being, creativity, and
even on our ability to learn.
Don Campbell, an international authority on the connection
between music and healing, was trained as a classical
musician at the Fountainebleau Conservatory of Music
in France, where he studied with the legendary Nadia
Boulanger. He has traveled to more than forty countries
exploring the musical roots of indigenous cultures,
collaborating with local musicians, and teaching children.
He has experienced the power of music to restore health
and improve the quality of life „ including his own.
Diagnosed three and a half years ago with a potentially
fatal blood clot in his brain, he decided to put his
experience in sound healing to the test before resorting
to his doctorÍs recommended course of action: surgery
that would involve removing a third of his skull.
Combining listening to classical and sacred music,
toning, humming, and imagery, Campbell devised a positive
self treatment. After just three weeks, the blood
clot shrank from more than an inch-and-a-half in length
to less than an eighth of an inch „ and he was declared
out of danger.
"Music is the most complementary medicine of
the future," Campbell says. "ñWhen we are
out of harmony, music can re-orchestrate our lives
for the health of mind, body, and soul." In his
new breakthrough book THE MOZART EFFECTR, he provides
compelling evidence of the influence of particular
sounds, tones, and rhythms on mental performance and
spiritual outlook, as well as in the treatment of
disease. Interweaving the riveting stories of ordinary
men and women with solid research by doctors, psychologists,
and music therapists, THE MOZART EFFECTR shows how
music can be used to improve memory and learning,
boost productivity, soothe jangled nerves, strengthen
endurance, unlock creative impulses, sound away pain,
and heal the body from a host of ailments. Campbell
cites fifty common conditions where music has made
a difference „ curing symptoms and changing lives
„ including high blood pressure, heart disease, AIDS
and cancer.
Campbell presents more than two dozen specific, easy-to-follow
exercises designed to sharpen listening ability and
harness the power of toning, mantras, and other self-generated
sounds. Spanning a range of skills and topics „ from
spatial IQ to massage to bonding with a baby in utero
„ these practical techniques bring the force and wonder
of THE MOZART EFFECT® into our everyday lives.
The
MUSIC FOR THE MOZART EFFECT® releases are the
only recordings to fully utilize the synthesis of
musical, spiritual, medical, and psychological expertise
Campbell brings to bear on the transformative power
of music. Each release is designed to achieve a particular
effect„whether itÍs enhancing I.Q. with the uplifting
rhythms of the allegros or slowing the pace with the
soothing cadences of the andantes and adagios„ and
Campbell has carefully selected, edited, ordered and
sequenced each volume according to key, tempo, and
a variety of other psychological, physiological, and
aesthetic factors. The recordings have also been subtly
processed and optimized based on CampbellÍs extensive
study of research work in the field. Extensive liner
notes introduce the basic concepts of CampbellÍs work,
illuminate the genius of Mozart, and guide the listener
track by track to ensure maximum effectiveness and
enjoyment.
