"I have come to believe that the world is more of spirit than of matter: that what is unseen is more imortant than what is seen. The things we most value are felt with the heart rather than viewed with the naked eye. Transcendence is a natural human condition which we mat all experience from time to time."

Music for The Spiritual Tourist
A Musical Odyessy Through the Outer Reaches of Belief

The newest release in the Books & Music Series, Music For The Spiritual Tourist is the accompanying musical compilation for English journalist Mick Brown's best-selling The Spiritual Tourist (Bloomsbury 1998). In this rich and illuminating journey to the outer reaches of our age's search for meaning and purpose, Brown brings to light both seekers and charlatans: from Baptists to Buddhists he explores the rich terrain of the sacred and the profane.

Music For The Spiritual Tourist includes rare and powerful tracks from artists whose spiritual yearnings are an acknowledged force in their creative process: Terry Riley, Nawang Khechog, James Asher, Sheila Chandra and Krishna Das are but a few of the stops on this profound and unique compilation.

The Spiritual Tourist
A Personal Odyessy Through the Outer Reaches of Belief
On a pilgrimage to see the Dali Lama in the foothills of the Himalayas; blissed out in Germany with a beautiful Indian girl believed to be "the Divine Mother"; witnessing miracles in the ashram of Sai Baba; and searching for the messiah in the back streets of London - The Spiritual Tourist is the Candide of the age, on a voyage of inner search and illumination. In his vivid, interrogative and highly entertaining book, Mick Brown joins the holy, the lost, the wise and the foolish in the highways and backroads of spiritual tourists.
